Contemporary Cubism
RAISA
Some call her "Lady Picasso." Others hang her beside their Warhol. Bright, bold, and thoughtful originals for the collector who lives with the avant-garde.

01 — The Artist
RAISA
Contemporary Cubist ArtistPeru & United States
At five years old, I knew with absolute certainty that I wanted to paint forever. Life had many lessons waiting for me before I found my way back to that little girl’s dream.
Growing up was not easy. It taught me to question what I see, to feel deeply and to trust my intuition. Those years shaped the woman I became, and they live in every painting I make.
I was born in Lima, Peru, surrounded by bold color, contrast and expression. Peru is still in my palette. I use color the way others use words, to say what a face is feeling.
My work is contemporary cubism built from interconnected faces. Every line is painted freehand, without tape or shortcuts, and finished so smoothly that people lean in and ask if it is really handmade. It is: one face, one color, one emotion at a time, each connected to the next.
Each face can stand alone, yet each becomes part of something larger. That is what I believe about us. We live separate stories, and we are still deeply connected. My paintings explore identity, memory, belonging and the invisible threads between people.
Three years ago I began painting full time. My first collection of 32 originals sold out that year, and today more than 200 of my paintings live in private collections across the United States. Collectors started calling me “Lady Picasso,” and one of them now owns 13 originals. My work has won Best in Show at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, and I was the featured artist at Chicago’s West Loop Art Fest.
But the reason I paint has not changed since I was five: to make something honest enough that you pause, feel and recognize a part of yourself in someone else.

The Meanings
The Faces
Where Every Line Tells a Story
The Faces are where RAISA’s signature style began. Her very first painting in it was a contour face she named Patrick. “He was a reminder to feel all your emotions,” she says, “to smile, and to cry.”
Each Face is drawn as a single, continuous line, from beginning to end, the way a life is lived. Every curve and turn holds the experiences and people that shape who we become. The series led directly to Voyage.
Bold and playful, The Faces change the energy of a room. Striking alone, they are even more captivating in pairs, because life is richer through connection.

My art speaks loudly, vibrating in bold colors, because I come from Latin American roots and a culture that has often told women, ‘You look prettier when you stay quiet.’
